Generac updates Next Gen generator firmware over-the-air as needed. While the firmware update is in progress, you will not be able to connect to the generator via the Field Pro app.
If a firmware update is in progress and you attempt to connect to the generator using Field Pro (Login to Field Pro app > Work on a Home Standby Generator > Connect to a Generator Now), you will see a message under the serial number indicating the firmware update is in progress.
Please allow the firmware update to complete. It should take approximately 5-10 minutes if the cellular signal is good. However, it can take longer if the signal is lower. To understand if it has completed, periodically select the 'Search Again' button to refresh the generator list. Once the firmware update is complete, the serial number will show up in the list with no the yellow triangle and 'Firmware update in progress' message.
If the firmware update is in progress for more than 20 minutes, please contact Generac Customer Support.
